Our Focus
At Smoky Mountain Long Term Recovery Group, our focus is on lasting recovery—not just immediate relief. We help individuals and families impacted by disaster rebuild their lives with stability, dignity, and hope. From safe housing repairs to personalized case management, we coordinate long-term support that meets real needs and strengthens our communities for the future.
Construction
Oversees the coordination and scheduling of all rebuilding projects for cases approved by the Smoky Mountain Long Term Recovery Group process – a project manager function.
Volunteer
The Volunteer Committee is responsible for recruiting and categorizing volunteer offers. The committee works closely with the construction and donation committees to match the skill level of the volunteer to the requirements of the construction. Additionally, the Volunteer Committee may oversee volunteer hospitality (accommodations, etc.) and ensure that volunteer hours are reported and logged.
Communications
Develops and implements a communications plan, manages media relations, prepares and distributes updates, ensuring consistent messaging, and collaborating with other agencies, non-profits, LTRG committees, etc. to share relevant information.
Case Management
Reviews cases for submission to the Unmet Needs Committee. This committee also provides and/or marshals professionals to provide counseling to address emotional and spiritual needs of clients.
Unmet Needs
Receives and acts on referrals from Case Management Committee. Consists of members and non-members bringing money (cash financial support), materials (donations, equipment, supplies furniture, appliances, etc.), or muscle (volunteer labor crews and expertise) to meet the needs of individuals who have been served by the case management process.
Funding
(Donations and Fund Raising) – Works to secure grants, donations and other resources for Smoky Mountain Long Term Recovery Group and coordinates with other entities (e.g., manufacturers, suppliers, etc.) to secure donations and funding.
Mental & Spiritual Care
The Mental Health and Spiritual Care committee shall receive referrals from all subcommittees, member organizations, and nonmember organizations to provide such professional services and work closely with such SMLTRG subcommittees, member organizations and non-member organizations to ensure the impacted persons individual needs are addressed.
